Design of a user-centric website for Watershed
Watershed is the South West’s leading film, culture, and digital media centre, serving a diverse audience with a wide range of programs, from film screenings to digital innovation projects. Their existing website needed a redesign to improve usability, better reflect their brand and to provide a seamless experience for users engaging with their events and resources.
As the lead
UX and UI designer, I was responsible for shaping the website’s user experience to align with audience needs. My main objectives included improving site navigation and structure to enhance clarity and ease of use. Make sure that the site is accessible and responsive across all devices and also to establish a scalable design system to maintain consistency across Watershed’s digital presence.
Working very closely with Watershed’s digital team we examined audience behaviors and expectations, allowing us to streamline the site architecture. We refined and simplified the website’s structure
to create a more intuitive and engaging experience.
This project was part of a broader, long-term collaboration with the Watershed digital department spanning over a decade. Other work in this partnership included:
-
Developing a unified design system to ensure consistency across platforms.
-
Creating HTML email templates for seamless communication.
-
Supporting digital initiatives for the Pervasive Media Studio and South West Film Hub.
The website redesign significantly boosted visitor engagement by simplifying navigation across Watershed's offerings. With a streamlined architecture improving accessibility and a versatile design system ensuring visual consistency between the website and in-building digital touchpoints, users now experience a seamless journey throughout the Watershed ecosystem.
