Real World Records
Design of a dynamic digital presence

Founded by Peter Gabriel in 1989, Real World Records was created to give artists worldwide access to top-tier recording facilities and a global audience. As the label grew, so did its digital needs. Their existing website struggled to effectively showcase their vast catalog of albums, provide engaging multimedia content, and offer seamless purchasing and streaming options.  

After winning a competitive pitch, I was selected to lead the design and development of Real World Records’ new site. My key objectives were:  
  • Create a user-friendly platform to display the label’s extensive discography.  
  • Integrate audio and video content, as well as long-form archives with exclusive material.  
  • Ensure a seamless user journey for purchasing and streaming music. 
  • Develop a visually compelling and cohesive UI that reflects the brand’s global identity.  

To accommodate Real World Records’ extensive catalog and varied content types, I structured the site architecture to prioritize ease of navigation and content discovery. I designed a clean, modern interface that balanced aesthetics with functionality, creating a seamless experience for users exploring the label’s discography. To bring the project to life, I commissioned Avalanche to handle the site’s build, working closely with them to ensure smooth development and implementation. Throughout the process, I managed timelines, coordinated with stakeholders and oversaw execution to deliver a high-quality final product that met both user and business needs.

The new website successfully transformed Real World Records’ digital presence. The intuitive design made it easier for users to explore the label’s vast music collection, engage with exclusive content and easily hear all of their great music. By balancing functionality with a strong visual identity, the site reinforced Real World Records’ mission of bringing diverse global artists to a wider audience.
